WestWater Engineering completed the Preliminary and Final Design through construction for the New Castle raw waterline that conveys water from an intake on Elk Creek approximately 5,000-feet to the water treatment plant.
This included a unique raw water bypass to the treatment plant to allow the existing raw waterline to be taken out of service while the new 16-inch diameter pipeline was installed. Because of the tight working conditions, PVC pipe was used in lieu of ductile iron pipe and air-vacuum release valves were placed at selected locations.
