WestWater Engineering was responsible for development of an underground spring to serve as the main water source for the Powderhorn Ski Corporation during the initial phases of the resort development.
Facilities include a water well screen in an infiltration gallery surrounded by gravel, with piping to the storage tank. The project also included evaluation of the surface water diversion structures above the intake site.
WestWater Engineering also prepared a complete Feasibility and Preliminary Engineering Report of the water supply system for the Powderhorn Ski Area.
This included evaluation of the existing intake structure, storage tanks, pipelines, and a gas chlorination system. Recommendations were made for reconstruction of the intake and upgrading of the treatment system to include a roughing filter, cartridge filters, and gas chlorination.
